Ariel will discuss the impact of social isolation during the pandemic on cognition and communication. The presentation will include a brief overview of Speech and Language Pathology. Ariel will discuss the “aging brain” including typical cognitive changes that come with aging and regions of the brain typically impacted. She will also discuss the benefits of speech and language therapy for the natural aging process, mild cognitive impairments and early onset dementia.

Ariel Moniz MS, SLP-CCCC is a speech language pathologist who has been with Edgewood since 2019. She completed her undergraduate work at the University of New Hampshire and received her masters from Brooklyn College in 2017. Ariel is also a certified LSVT provider, a program focusing on improving vocal quality and communication in patients with Parkinson’s disease.
