SMALL-HOME ASSISTED LIVING AND MEMORY SUPPORT | LONDONDERRY, NH
Where a helping hand brings a renewed sense of freedom.
Orchard Inn at The Baldwin is a place where life is meant to be lived to the fullest. A place to thrive. Where a warm smile waits around every corner, the little things matter, and a renewed sense of freedom comes from knowing a helping hand is always nearby. Orchard Inn’s innovative, small-home assisted living and memory support model is unique in southern New Hampshire with four state-of-the-art, specialized households that accommodate just ten residents each. The intimate size of our households encourages residents’ independence while also fostering friendships and interaction.
Dedicated Innkeepers get to know each resident personally — their history and routines, their personality and interests, how they like to spend their days, and the specific types of care and assistance they need and want. Because of this personalized approach, each resident receives just the right assistance to help them regain a sense of autonomy and purpose they may have lost while trying to manage living on their own.
Assisted Living
Assistance that empowers independence.
Assisted living at Orchard Inn is designed to empower residents to maintain as much autonomy as they choose. We partner with each resident to design a detailed plan of care based on their needs and preferences and continually adjust as their needs change, to ensure a truly personalized living experience.
Whether it’s helping with personal tasks such as dressing, bathing or bathroom assistance, medication management, or moving into or out of a chair or bed, we’re here to provide help when it’s needed while also respecting the resident’s desire for independence. Weekly housekeeping and laundry service are provided although, as with most things at Orchard Inn, those who enjoy doing it themselves have the freedom to do so.
Surrounded by friends — and with the knowledge that a caring, helping hand is always available — residents are empowered to move past their limitations and safely embrace their abilities. This restores a priceless sense of confidence and security that helps residents flourish.
MEMORY SUPPORT
Comfort, security, and peace of mind.
When someone you love is living with Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia, finding compassionate care you can trust is a top priority. Small-home model memory support at Orchard Inn provides a comforting, familial atmosphere where residents feel welcome, secure, and understood. It’s also an environment in which each resident is encouraged to engage in the life of the household. Activities are tailored to individual interests, adding more meaning and joyful moments to each day. And just like in our assisted living households, memory support residents can take on daily tasks as they choose and are able.
Each household is staffed by a consistent team of dedicated Innkeepers who ensure the consistency, familiarity, and close bonds that are so important. And every member of our team receives specialized dementia training to learn the latest techniques in communicating with and caring for people with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia or memory impairment.
OUR INNOVATIVE SMALL-HOME MODEL
Welcoming space. Liberating feeling.
Orchard Inn is a welcome alternative to traditional, and often clinical, care centers. Each of our four specialized, state-of-the-art households accommodates just ten residents, creating an intimate, family-style atmosphere that encourages social engagement and opportunities for personal connection. With an easy-to-navigate layout, residents can feel more confident as they go about their daily lives, embracing their independence
Daily life centers around a central hearth area where residents gather to engage in lively conversation, participate in a variety of engaging programs, enjoy meals together, or simply relax and enjoy the warmth of the fire on a chilly day. Large windows bathe the space in natural light and help create a profound connection with nature. Principles of biophilic design are incorporated to create a harmonious environment that stimulates the senses and helps improve cognitive function, physical health, and overall well-being.

Frequently Asked Questions
When is assisted living needed?
When you notice someone you love is struggling with some of the basic activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, making meals, or taking medications, it may not be safe for them to continue living on their own. What initially may seem like minor struggles can turn into bigger problems. In this case, it may be time to consider assisted living.
When is memory support appropriate?
Memory support is appropriate for those people in the early- to mid-stages of Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia. If you have noticed chances in your loved one’s behavior, including disorientation and confusion — and if these changes are creating an unsafe environment for the individual or their caregiver — specialized memory support may be the answer.
Does Orchard Inn at The Baldwin accept direct admission?
Residents of The Baldwin always have guaranteed priority admission to our healthcare services. For those who are not already residents, direct admission to assisted living and memory support is accepted on a space-available basis.
What if my loved one needs nursing care?
The Baldwin is licensed as an Assisted Living Residences–Supported Residential Health Care Facility (ALR-SRHCF) by the State of New Hampshire. This license allows The Baldwin to admit and serve those individuals who require a higher level of care than is typically allowed in a traditional assisted living community.
Orchard Inn is licensed, staffed, and equipped to offer most nursing home-level services in our households. In most cases, if nursing care is required, your loved one will be able to continue living in their private suite at Orchard Inn while receiving the high-quality care they need including continuing nursing care or monitoring, short-term medical care, or even hospice care. We also will offer on-site physical, occupational, and speech therapy.
